DIY - Doily lamp

What you will need:

Balloon (I used a big latex baloon from ebay)
Wallpaper paste
Vaseline
Doilies (you need more than you think!)

Blow up your balloon to your preferred size and cover it in Vaseline, this will prevent your doilies sticking to the balloon in the end. Cover each doily with wallpaper paste on both sides - the more the better since the paste is what will make your doilies keep their shape. To make work easier I placed the balloon on a bucket so it wouldn't roll around, and I worked in sections - first the top half (remember to leave space for the light bulb) and lastly the bottom half. Each doily have to overlap the ones around it, this will ensure that the structure will be more sturdy and lessen the risk of the lamp collapsing. I gave each overlap an extra coat of paste to make sure it had maximum hold.

Let the lamp dry for a couple days. I had mine sitting for weeks, this made the balloon shrink just a bit and made it easier to separate the doilies from the balloon. Pop the balloon and your lamp is done!
